Salut lecteur !


Vu le temps où je t'ai délaissé au profit d'autres joyeusetés, je me devais bien de me rattraper...quoi de mieux donc, qu'une seconde version de la liste des évènements de cet été, mais pour les mois à venir ? 
A juger des réactions de satisfaction générées par la première liste, je pense que celle là te sera également utile.

Septembre - 31 October

1916 Rebellion Walking Tour

[FR] Enfin un peu d'histoire ! Et l'Irlande, elle en a de l'histoire à revendre. Précisément au sujet de l'année 1916, le commencement des rebellions qui lui ont permis d'atteindre l'indépendance. C'est un moment charnière dont tout Irlandais te parlera avec ferveur. Si les rouages de l'histoire t'intéressent, participe à ce tour de Dublin ou un historien t'expliquera exactement ce qu'il s'est passé. Ça promet d'être vraiment intéressant.

Bulmer's International Comedy Festival

[FR] Déjà dans sa 5ème année, ce festival du rire prend chaque année de l'ampleur. Il commence le 1er septembre et dure 3 semaines, dans diverses salles de Dublin. Cette année, le festival accueille l'américain Chris Rock, que vous devez sans doute connaître si vous avez regardé Saturday Night Live...ou le flic de Beverly Hills 2 !
[EN] Following it’s phenomenal success in 2007, The Bulmers International Comedy Festival returns to Dublin - bigger and better than ever before. Now in it's fifth year the Bulmers International Comedy Festival has become one of the top five comedy festivals in the world.

Cinéma en plein air (Outdoors movies in the park)

[FR] Dun Laoghaire, au sud de Dublin (accessible en DART), passe huit films familiaux gratuits en plein air ce week-end. Tu as rêvé de voir un film en plein air, avec la vue du port de DL derrière ? Ils l'ont fait : Batman t'attend en version grand écran dans un cadre vraiment sympa. COURS-Y !
[EN] Dun Laoghaire presents 3 days of Outdoor Movies in the Park in the Peoples Park. on Friday to Sunday September 5th to September 7th. The screenings are free. The backdrop for the giant movie screen will be the dramatic horizon of Dun Laoghaire harbour. Filmgoers can bring picnics and blankets for a great family day out. Popcorn and other treats will be available for purchase throughout the event. Films will be at 6pm and 8.30pm on Friday and on Saturday and Sunday, films will be at 3pm, 5pm and 8pm.

Fringe Festival

[FR] Expliquer ce qu'est le Fringe Festival en quelques mots est quasi-impossible. Pour faire bref, ce festival alternatif regroupe pièces de théâtre et arts d'un genre nouveau, cirque et autres divertissements, répartis dans plusieurs endroits de Dublin. Je recommande chaudement de réserver vos places en avance car elles partent très vite. Je me souviendrai toujours de cette troupe française qui nous a fait revivre le Flying Circus des Monty Python le temps d'une soirée. Hilarant. Cette année il y a plus de 100 shows, alors à toi de choisir, l'offre est alléchante une fois de plus !

Style in the city
[FR] Merrion Square est une fois de plus le théâtre d'un nouveau festival. Cette fois ci, on parlera de mode ! Fashion shows, boutiques, glaces, maquillage, cocktails, conseils coiffure, conseils vestimentaires, champagne, gala, exposition couture et j'en passe ! Tout ça avec beaucoup de style, évidemment. On aura vraiment pensé à tout pour ce festival...à tout, oui, mais pas aux porte-monnaie : l'entrée va de 25 à 150 euros.

Chasse aux trésors (City Chase)

[FR] Cet évènement international arrive aussi à Dublin ! Pour une somme assez élevée (85 euros pour 2 personnes), te voilà à la recherche de trésors culturels dans Dublin. A priori la chasse dure entre 4 et 6 heures. Pour avoir déjà fait une chasse aux trésors (gratuite) dans Dublin, je peux te dire que je suis vraiment tentée ! Pour le fun, et pour ce qu'on y gagne en informations sur la ville. Si tu comptes toi aussi participer, laisse moi un message !

SeptemberFest 2008 

[FR] Pendant ce week-end, l'Irlande tentera de se mesurer à la fête de la bière allemande, la fameuse Oktoberfest. J'étais tentée de dire que comme c'est la première édition de ce festival, il ne faut pas s'attendre à grand chose....mais c'est vrai que l'Irlande rivalise bien avec l'Allemagne en termes de descente...de bière. Donc, à tenter ? C'est gratuit.

[EN] During this week-end, Irlande will try and put together its own Oktoberfest, a party around beer and good times. I would have been tempted to say that because it's in its first year, we shouldn't expect much...but Irland doesn't have anything to envy to Germany in terms of beer drinking, so give it a go? Mobility Week - Dublin City Cycle
[FR] Tu es fana de vélo ? Tu rêves que Dublin soit une zone sans voitures ? Participe à cet évènement gratuit qui te fait, en compagnie de milliers d'autres cyclistes, parcourir un peu de la ville à vélo. Le parcours devrait prendre moins de 2 heures. Il n'y a que 4500 places attribuées, donc inscris toi dès maintenant ! Moi ca y est, j'ai ma place, donc si tu participes et que tu veux qu'on se retrouve, fais signe.
[EN] The city centre is closed off to cars, so that bikes can take the city ! This event is free, and it's a nice two hours ride within Dublin city centre.  There are only 4500 places available, so register now !

National Organic Week

Culture Night

[FR] Une soirée à ne pas manquer. C'est un des rares moments ou l'accès à la culture se fait en dehors des heures normales d'ouverture. Les théâtres, biblithèques, monuments historiques et autres musées sont ouverts au public. Le programme est fait en fonction des quartiers de Dublin. L'année dernière, on a pu faire un tour de Croke Park, visiter les appartements d'Etat et encore bien d'autres. Surtout, à ne pas manquer, et se procurer bien le programme bien à l'avance : une soirée c'est court pour tout faire, autant ne pas perdre de temps à chercher ce qui nous intéresse. Et attention : la Culture Night est très populaire, fais en sorte d'être à l'heure parce que tu ne seras pas le seul !

[EN] More than 80 of the city's galleries, museums, theatres, libraries take part in Culture Night again this year. The programme is organised into cultural quarters. Last year, people were able to take a tour of Croke Park, visit Dublin Castle State Apartments et many others. Make sure you read the programme before the night, the evening only lasts a few hours, don't waste it making up your mind on what you want to see! And beware: this is a hugely popular initiative, be there on time.

Visit a Chilean naval ship

[FR] Le navire chilien "Almirante Condell" sera à Dublin (Ocean Peer, Alexandra Basin) du 17 au 20 septembre, mais ne sera ouvert au public pour visites que le 19, entre 10 heures et 16 heures.

Artbots, the robot talent show

[FR] Qui n'a jamais rêvé d'un festival d'arts robotiques ? Pendant ces trois jours, la Science gallery te permet de découvrir les arts robotiques, de discuter avec les créateurs, et de comprendre ce qui les a poussé à combiner art et science. Débats, expositions, shows - si j'en juge par les expositions passées de la Science Gallery, on ne devrait pas être en reste.

[EN] Who never dreamt of a festival of robotic art? During these three days, the Science Gallery gives you the opportunity to discover robotic art, to discuss it with the creators, and to understand what pushed them to combine science and art. Dublin Theatre Festival

[FR] Tu aimes le théâtre ? Ça tombe bien, à Dublin ce n'est pas ce qui manque, bien au contraire, surtout quand s'organisent les festivals de théâtre. Il y a bien du classique, cette année du Tennessee Williams, mais on fait surtout place à des pièces venues du monde entier, qui permettent de la découverte ! 

Comme à Dublin on a l'habitude d'aller dîner puis d'aller au théâtre, cette tradition se perpétue d'autant plus pendant le festival. En plus des restaurants habituels qui offrent un Pre-Theatre Menu (Chapter 1, Rajoot Tandoori, Break For The Border, Sinergie...), tu trouveras une liste des restaurants qui offrent un menu Early Bird pour ceux qui vont au théâtre (Lien ci-dessous, Section Festival Feeds).
[EN] Are you a theatre lover? In Dublin, there's plenty to satisfy you, especially when come the festival times. There are some classics, like Tennessy Williams, but this festival will rather give you the opportunity to discover plays coming from around the world!

Festival des cuisines du monde (Festival of World Food)
[FR] Des saucisses d'Allemagne, du Baba Ganoush du Liban, des sushi et des nouilles du Japon, un Hot Vindaloo d'Inde, de la Moussaka de Grèce, de la grande cuisine Française, des pasta italiennes, du Tex Mex, de la nourriture créole, du cochon roti...tout ça dans une yourte ! Tu crois rêver ? Mais non, c'est bien à Marlay Park que ça se passe, samedi et dimanche de 10 heures à 18 heures ! L'entrée au parc est gratuite, il y aura de quoi manger, des démonstrations de cuisine, des ateliers, etc. A ne pas manquer !

Open House

[FR] Pour la troisième année consécutive, Open House te permet de visiter des bâtiments à l'architecture particulière. Halloween (Samhain)

[FR] Samhain en gaélique, veut dire Fin de l'été. Malheureusement, l'été, on n'aura pas eu l'occasion de le voir cette année...mais ça n'empêche pas de faire la fête, et on retrouve bien là l'Irlande. Une parade a lieu au centre ville. Détails à confirmer. Sinon, des écrans géants et des films en plein air pour fêter Halloween. Une parade et des feux d'artifice. C'est où ? A Marlay Park of course. Sinon vas faire un tour sur le site Hallowfest, c'est un autre festival.

[EN] Samhain means the end of summer in gaelic. Poor us, there was not even any summer this year. However that doesn't mean we can't party, irish-style. There will be a parade in the city centre, details yet to be confirmed. Else, go to Marlay Park for an afternoon of outdoor movies, parade and fireworks. All free ! Dublin Marathon

[FR] Depuis presque 30 ans, les foules s'attroupent pour voir courir les sportifs dans le centre ville de Dublin. Si tu veux participer, tu peux t'inscrire jusqu'au 6 octobre sur le site ci-dessous. Le marathon commence à 9h00 du matin et on attend 10 000 participants !

Avec en prime, la présence d'Elsa Zylberstein, Jean Becker et Jean-Pierre Darroussin. Par contre - tu sauras peut-être m'expliquer...pourquoi est ce qu'on a traduit Bienvenue chez les Chtis par Welcome to the Sticks ?!?

November to early January

Christmas On Ice & Smithfield on ice
[FR] Tu es un as de la glace ? Comme tous les ans, le RDS et Smithfield mettent chacun en place une petite patinoire ou tu pourras chausser tes patins. Je te préviens : au RDS, c'est cher, c'est petit, et on ne peut que tourner en rond (pas de freestyle, non, tout le monde tourne dans le même sens au son des titres pop - très teenager comme ambiance). Mais si ça te dit, prends-toi y à temps, c'est souvent bondé.
[EN] The ice rinks are back! If you fancy skating for an hour or two, try your luck at one of these very busy ice rinks. It's quite expensive and you can't do exactly what you want (i.e. you have to skate around the centre with everyone else, in the same direction), but it's fun if you fancy this kind of thing!

Marché aux chevaux
[FR] L'occasion d'être le témoin d'une des traditions irlandaises qui est encore présente aujourd'hui mais peut-être plus pour très longtemps...Le marché se déroule ce samedi a Smithfield Plaza, à partir de 9h30. A ne pas manquer !

[EN] One of the last remaining traditions of Ireland - the horse market. Be at Smithfield Plaza on that Saturday from 9.30 am and you'll witness something you probably won't see anywhere else!


12-23 December
Marché de Noël / 12 days of Christmas
[FR] Pour quelqu'un qui vient d'Alsace et qui sait donc ce que veut vraiment dire un marché de Noël, il est certain que celui ci n'a rien à voir. Mais comme sortie du dimanche, ça peut être très sympa quand même !
[EN] For someone used to the big tradition of real Christmas markets, this one can't really compare. It's nice for a Sunday walk though!

Christmas Eve Vigil
[FR] Si tu es tenté de voir comment se passe une vraie messe irlandaise, voilà ta chance. 
File à l'église St Mary Pro-Cathedral pour la messe illuminée par des bougies. La chorale Palestrina (renomée en Irlande) commence à 21h30 et la messe est à 22h. Sois là tôt si tu veux une place. La chorale est composée de garçons de 9 à 14 ans qui ont fait toute l'Europe pour célébrer des messes. Ils sont spécialisés dans les chants grégoriens et classiques. A prior, ça vaut vraiment la peine de se déplacer.

[EN] Here is what others say about it: "If you want to experience a traditional festive Irish Mass, then head for St Mary's Pro-Cathedral for the candlelit Christmas Eve Vigil. The Choir begins the evening at 9.30pm and at 10pm the candlelit Mass of Christmas Night begins. Arrive early if you want a seat.
The Irish are particular about their music and thus it is no surprise that the Pro-Cathedral should have such a famous choir. The Palestrina Choir are very special. Comprised of choir boys aged 9-14 years old, they have toured all over Europe and given evening services in Westminster Abbey and St Paul's. The choir specialises in classical polyphony and Gregorian chant. In recent years their repertoire has been extended to include vernacular and contemporary music: they are definitely worth making the effort to hear."
